After 14 years of outstanding service to the IET Electric Power Applications journal, Prof. Steve Williamson steps down from the position of Editor-in-Chief from March 1st 2010. Steve has recently accepted a position to the IET Board of Trustees and will be concentrating on these duties going forward. He will continue to oversee all submissions assigned to him prior to mid February 2010.
To that end we welcome Prof. Emil Levi (Liverpool John Moores University) to the position of IET Electric Power Applications Editor-in-Chief. Emil has served on the editorial board for a number of years and continues to serve the journal with enthusiasm and commitment. All papers submitted from mid-Feb 2010 are being overseen by Emil, thus ensuring complete continuity.

Scope
Publishing 9 times a year from 2010, IET Electric Power Applications publishes papers of a high technical standard with a suitable balance of practice and theory. The scope covers a wide range of applications and apparatus in the power field. In addition to papers focussing on the design and development of electrical equipment, papers relying on analysis are also sought, provided that the arguments are conveyed succinctly and the conclusions are clear. The scope of the journal includes the following:
- The design and analysis of motors and generators of all sizes
- Rotating electrical machines
- Linear machines
- Actuators
- Power transformers
- Railway traction machines and drives
- Variable speed drives
- Machines and drives for electrically powered vehicles
- Industrial and non-industrial applications and processes
Special Issue
Electrical Machines and Drives for the More Electric Aircraft – Guest Edited by Prof. Barrie Mecrow (Newcastle University, UK), Prof. Phil Mellor (Bristol University, UK) and Dr John Cullen (Rolls Royce). – Now closed for submission
